As an engineer trained to evaluate systems within systems within systems, whose functions are complementary and contribute to a complex array of diverse cooperative functions, the design of all life on Planet Earth is found to be incredibly complicated. The thought that all of this beautiful, productive life which covers the Planet just came into existence without an extremely intelligent guiding hand is incomprehensible.

Calling Cofty and others regarding evolution
by dubstepped inso i have started down the path of trying to understand evolution, and to get the linear lies that the jws planted in my head out of it.
i bought an audiobook called "evolution: what the fossils say and why it matters" by donald prothero.
i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

The extent of my "indoctrination" was very, very brief compared to the vast majority here. Approximately three years, with many interruptions by opposing family, from the age of 16 to 18. Then following my retirement from the Navy I associated with a local congregation for several intermittent periods as an "interested person" (never letting anyone know that I had been baptized years before) over a period of approximately 6 years. I did notice an enormous change in the way things were done following my departure from The Cult and 22 year hiatus but I, thankfully, never experienced any of the heartbreaking problems that so many here have.
Consequently I never lost faith in Our Creator. Just came to realize beyond any doubt that the WTBorg Cult Inc. was not The Truth at all. The god of the witnesses is not a nice person. The fear level within the congregation was almost palpable.

Anointed Delusions of Grandeur
by Kohanic inso here is something i've been wondering about.
how do the 'anointed' come to the conclusion that they are chosen?
is it some weird collective delusion of grandeur and how is it manifested in such ones?.

It is looking like the "Jw Experience" brings out an awful lot of bitterness post-escape.
Mind Control is real and it is effective.
Behavior Modification.
For a lifetime.

Quote from _Morpheus:
Consider the most basic facts: the pyramid of giza is 455 tall and made of stone, constructed around 2560 bc. It is a marvel of construction for that time to be sure... also fact: the washigton monument is 555 feet tall and made of stone and was completed in 1888. Why the hell would you think a smaller structure made of the same material couldnt have been made? How stupid are you people? What possible logic do you have for your assertion?
What presently remains of the Great Pyramids are just the cores of the structures. The outer surfaces of the pyramids, which were apparently a limestone mortar, are completely gone. When in their prime the surfaces of the pyramids were smooth and white as snow. Unlike anything the World has ever seen.
Documentaries of the numerous incredible structures in South America are at high altitudes in mountainous terrain. Even with our modern machinery and skills at building, it would be exceedingly difficult to replicate what has been done there. To assume that it was done by humans seems highly unlikely.

Don't you think that some people are just better off within the org?
by paradiseseeker inthis is my first post, i will introduce myself later.
first of all, i must say that english is not my mother tongue (i'm spanish), so excuse me if i make any mistake.. do you think that some people simply can't cope with being outside the jws?
some of them are too worldlyphobic to be around non-jws, too dependent on a fixed set of rules in order to carry on with their lives, too dependent on the hope of paradise and resurrection, too unable to leave their personal comfort zone within the organization.

Quote from Long Hair Gal:
The reason many DFd go back and endure humiliation is because they are scared of the world they were not taught to live in.
I'd carry that statement just a bit further: "...the world they were not permitted to live in."
If they had been permitted freedom to live in it, with the ability to make sure of all things, they'd have awakened before the indoctrination enslaved them. Hopefully.
Fear does some really horrible things to an otherwise healthy mind.

Those who are unknowingly deceived are never better off.
While they may feel confidently comfortable within The Cult it is only because they have fallen under its spell and bought the lies hook, line and sinker.
Look how many of the formerly deceived while waking up (PIMO) are unable to walk away from The Cult for fear losing family, friends and security. The Deceivers of WTBorg Cult Inc. have made sure that any who dare to exit The Cult will have to make exceedingly difficult and painful choices.
How can that be "better off" by any definition? Perhaps in this sense they are better off: during the period of Judgment the deceived will be held accountable for less than the deceivers.
The Really Good News is that none have to fear eternal destruction never to be raised from death. All will be healed and restored to life, even the worst of the sinners and killers as in the example of Saul who became Paul. As we are made to re-live whatever horrible deeds we may have done in this life there will be much wailing and gnashing of teeth while in the Lake of Fire, but we'll survive and be fully cleansed. This present life is just the beginning of a future life without end!

Quote from kairos:
I like the FACT that the ancient builders of the world's megaliths not only accomplished tasks still not attainable by modern technology, they also thought the earth was flat.
true story.
Some Bible scholars have come to believe that those builders possessed super-human skills and abilities. They may have been the Giant Nephilim who populated Earth in the time of Noah and later. If that is so then they would have known that Earth is indeed a spheroid.
It is quite true that our modern construction skills and machinery would not enable us to readily duplicate many of those ancient structures. One day we will know how they were made and who made them.

Too many have fallen for the Flat Earth Fantasy simply "because they can."
It is thought that the acts of defending the belief produce a "manipulator's high" which is characteristic of narcissism. They know they're wrong but truly enjoy pulling chains and pushing buttons. Because they can.

...i wanted to go and give him a big hug but I was with a really fanatic jw sister so i just smiled at him when she was distracted.
Speaks volumes about the level of fear which the Cult is able to inject into many.
